The Child Protection Centre Ulm/Neu-Ulm is a specialized counselling centre with a low-threshold offer. Specialists with advanced training advise children and adolescents who are affected by physical, sexual or psychological violence, domestic violence or neglect and their parents. Relatives, professionals and volunteers from associations who care for children and young people are also involved in the consultations.
Since January 2018, the Beurer Foundation has supported the project "Enabling Education – Overcoming Trauma." The project includes counselling for children who grow up in difficult circumstances and develop behavioural problems such as aggression, learning difficulties or shyness. With the help of therapeutic play lessons, the children can talk about their experiences and deal with their traumas. At the same time, parents receive separate advice on how to support their children.
Through the therapeutic work, a regulated daily life with school or nursery attendance is often only possible. This creates the basis for successful learning.
