Knowledge. Protection. Act. – Rights of children in the digital space

Together with terre des hommes, the Beurer Foundation supports the project "Rights of children in the digital space" in Oberhausen. The focus of the project is primarily on the inclusion of refugee children in democratic processes.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the democratic skills of children. Disadvantaged children learn to use and express their opinions about digital media safely. As "district reporters", for example, children explore their neighbourhood, strengthen their perception of interesting places and grievances, and are empowered to engage in positive leisure activities. During the project, they pass on their experiences, opinions and criticism in the form of media products they have created themselves, which also strengthens their independent use and production of media. Likewise, an identification with their living environment should be created.
